COVID-19 Update

Yes, we are open

Medical practices are an essential service. You may attend during the coronavirus restrictions for medical care during periods of restriction. The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) recommends that patients attend medical appointments throughout the pandemic.

Melbourne Shoulder & Elbow Centre is committed to keeping our patients, community, and staff, safe and healthy. We are following all guidelines from the DHHS.

  • Masks are to be worn at all times by all patients, staff, and visitors within the Brighton location and at each of our satellite locations.
  • Social distancing must be adhered to, with the exception of necessary physical examination by a practitioner.
  • On arrival, your temperature will be taken, and you will be asked to hand sanitise.
  • We request that, where possible, patients attend their appointment on their own. Exceptions include a parent attending with a minor, or a carer attending when necessary.
  • If you are unwell, have travelled, or been in direct contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the last 14 days, please postpone your visit with us until you are well or have completed your mandatory isolation period. If you are unsure, please call your surgeon’s rooms to discuss prior to attending for your appointment.
  • We are utilising a ‘car park waiting room’. We ask that you remain in your car and call your surgeon to advise that you have arrived. You will be called by reception when you are next to be seen. This ensures we maintain social distancing within the building.

Telehealth

Telehealth consultations may be offered to you during the course of your care. This is assessed for each individual patient. Please speak with your surgeon’s friendly administrative staff to see if this is suitable for you.

Elective surgery

During the coronavirus pandemic, the Victoria government is monitoring the use of hospital resources, and from time to time places caps on the number of surgical admissions available. Your surgeon will discuss with you if and how this may affect your treatment.

Your surgeon will give you advice on how to manage your condition if your surgery is delayed, and you should contact the rooms if your symptoms deteriorate.
